PTL, or Part Truck Load, is used when a shipment does not require a full vehicle. Goods from multiple consignors are consolidated into one vehicle, which typically makes several stops or passes through transporter hubs before reaching each destination.
FTL, or Full Truck Load, dedicates an entire vehicle to a single shipment, trip or customer. It is generally used for larger volumes, time-sensitive movements, or when a direct point-to-point trip is more efficient than hub-based consolidation.
The two require different operational tracking. PTL visibility depends on hub and milestone events from the transporter, while FTL visibility depends on trip-level updates: vehicle assignment, driver, live location and delivery confirmation for a single dedicated trip.
