An LR (Lorry Receipt) is issued by a transporter when goods are handed over for road transportation. It records the consignor, consignee, goods description, origin, destination and the transporter responsible for the movement.
In practice, an LR number is the reference most logistics and transport teams use to track a shipment’s status, while the consignee’s finance and sales teams usually work from the invoice number instead.
This creates a common operational gap: a customer calls about "invoice #4521" and the transport team can only look up shipments by LR number. Connecting invoice numbers to LR numbers is one of the most common visibility problems in B2B logistics, and one LR can cover multiple invoices moving together.
